A Year of Firsts

January 6, 2017

2016 was a year of firsts for us.

Last January I was just beginning physical therapy and slowly learning to walk again, and be in my wheel chair less. In May I was walking with the help of my cane.

Our 3rd niece was born.

I was cleared to go back to my job as a Special Education teacher in February.

JJ started his first job as a software engineer.

I started my little business, Little Hook Nook.

We began our first classes to become foster parents.

JJ was laid off for the first time. He learned a lot through that time and it lead him to take an amazing job with a wonderful company.

My littlest sister graduated from college and got married to a great guy.

We went on our first cruise together to Alaska, and Canada.

We each got tattoos for the first time.

We graduated from our foster classes and became certified foster parents.

We became parents for the first time to little CC love, Tiny, and now A.

We went to Disneyland, a lot. And, A got to go for the first time.

JJ got to fly an airplane.

Sweet A celebrated her first Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and she got to play in snow for the first time. She said her first word, and is days away from taking her first steps.

It’s been an amazing year of firsts. We are looking forward to what 2017 has in store.
